Abstract

Co-culture with granulosa and oviduct cells were evaluated for the development of early stage embryos. Oocytes collected from ovarian follicles (2 to 5 §® in diameter) of slaughtered cows were matured in TCM-199 with or without granulosa cells in CO©ü incubator for 20 to 24 hrs. In vitro fertilization was carried out using frozen-thawed semen treated with heparin. Fourty-eight hours after in vitro fertilization, the oocytes/embryos were co-cultured in TCM-199 with or without oviduct cells.
One hundred ninty-three oocytes were examined: The rates of fertilization and cleavage in vitro were 70.6, 34.4% in TCM-199 and 71.3, 44.6 in TCM-199 with granulosa cells, respectively (p$lt;0.05). In vitro development of early stage embryos co-cultured with or without oviduct cells were 45 and 31.5%, respectively(p$lt;0.05).
